Joe Gomes, a University of Iowa assistant professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and an Iowa Technology Institute faculty affiliate, is a co-principal investigator on a team awarded a Jumpstarting Tomorrow Initiative grant to start a quantum simulation (QSim) program. 

Marisol Contreras, a PhD candidate in chemical engineering at the University of Iowa and a graduate research assistant in the Syed Mubeen Research Group at the University of Iowa Technology Institute, is the winner of a Fulbright Study/Research grant in Chemical Engineering to Germany for 2021-22

Qing Zou, University of Iowa PhD candidate and an Iowa Technology Institute researcher, placed first for the Best Paper Award at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (IEEE-ISBI) 2021 on April 16.

A University of Iowa Technology Institute (ITI) undergraduate research assistant at the Laboratory for Advanced Construction Technology (LACT), Brian Shanahan, has been named the 2021 "Outstanding Student Researcher" through the College of Engineering leadership award program. 

After four years at the University of Iowa, Guowei Qi will attend the University of Cambridge in October to conduct research as one of 17 Churchill Scholars in the nation.
