Xuan Song, an assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering and ITI affiliate, is among 22 recipients of the 2022 Sandra L. Bouckley Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineers from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). His work focuses on innovations in 3D printing.

NASA EPSCoR funding to help UI engineering professor advance next-generation nuclear propulsion systems

NASA has selected the research proposal of Xuan Song, a University of Iowa assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering, among four Iowa projects to receive NASA EPSCoR funding. Song’s team will collaborate with scientists at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center to develop novel additive manufacturing (or 3D printing) approaches to fabricate complex ceramic components with high strength and extreme heat resistance.

Carver Department of Biomedical Engineering and faculty affiliate in the Iowa Technology Institute, is among 84 early career engineers selected to present at the Grainger Foundation Frontiers of Engineering Symposium in September 2022. She will join other groundbreaking engineers from industry, academia, and government at the event hosted by Amazon.
