Edward A. Sander, a renowned University of Iowa scholar in the areas of tissue engineering and multiscale mechanics, has been inducted as a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), an organization representing the top minds in the field.

Edward Sander, University of Iowa’s Robert and Virginia Wheeler Faculty Fellow in Engineering, has been appointed as the new editor-in-chief of Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering.

Edward Sander, a University of Iowa professor of biomedical engineering and Robert and Virginia Wheeler Faculty Fellow in Engineering, and James Ankrum, UI associate professor of biomedical engineering, are co-principal investigators of the study sponsored by a new National Institutes of Health grant.

Kristan Worthington and Edward Sander are investigating the impact that low gravity environments have on regenerative tissue technology that could be used for therapy during space missions. The intent is to advance the collective ability to use stem cell technology during long-term spaceflight for astronauts that require treatment.

A University of Iowa Technology Institute faculty affiliate, Edward Sander, is helping lead a new Research Experience for Undergraduates grant from the National Science Foundation.

Last month, El-Hattab's video explanation won the People's Choice award, a top prize in the UI's annual Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. The competition is designed to challenge graduate students to clearly and concisely articulate complex research to non-specialist audiences. 

A team of University of Iowa scholars led by faculty affiliates with the Iowa Technology Institute released findings this week that expanded the understanding of the role fat tissue plays in healing wounds and may help to uncover and develop fat-related wound healing treatments.
