University of Iowa Technology Institute Director Karim Malek will present at Defense Strategies Institute's 6th Annual Military Virtual Training & Simulation Summit on Feb. 22-23.

The focus of the summit is leveraging modeling and simulation and virtual training technologies to increase warfighter readiness, enhance lethality, and enforce battlefield cohesion across the services at all echelons, in all domains. The theme is “Ensuring Operational Readiness with Modernized Synthetic Training.

Malek led the team that invented the virtual humans, Santos and Sophia, biomechanically accurate, physic-based avatars of humans. Malek, a world-renowned expert is robotics, is a professor of biomedical engineering and directs Virtual Soldier Research (VSR).
