Wei Cheng is an assistant research scientist in the Syed Mubeen Research Group. His current research interests include the electrochemical synthesis of nano-structured metals and semiconductors and photo-electrochemical water splitting. Cheng is currently working on a project that studies the electrodeposition of nanostructured tandem-junction photo-electrochemical devices for water splitting. 

Before coming to the University of Iowa, Cheng completed a PhD in material physics and chemistry at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
