Nathan D. Smith is an engineering associate at the Operator Performance Laboratory. In the past Nathan was licensed by the state of Iowa as a Journeyman Wireman with over 12 years of experience in the service and repair, as well as design and installation of residential and commercial wiring systems. Nathan joined the OPL team as an undergraduate student in the fall of 2017 and graduated in the spring of 2018 with a BSE in Electrical and Computer Engineering with minors in both Business and Computer Science. Nathan is certified as a Plane Capitan on the OPL L-29 platform and has trained as a UAV Visual Observer. Nathan’s work at the OPL focusses on electrical and mechanical fabrication and design, embedded systems design, software engineering, human subjects’ research, flight test operations, and aircraft maintenance.
