Guillermo Laguna, PhD

Postdoctoral Research Scholar
Biography

Guillermo Laguna was a postdoctoral research scholar in the Virtual Soldier Research Program. At VSR, Laguna worked to implement inverse dynamics and predictive dynamics algorithms to simulate different physiological tasks and effects of fatigue on a human virtual avatar. Laguna’s projects included the implementation of a fatigue model to predict the maximum time in which a person can do a physical task and using a virtual avatar to infer the 3D pose of a given person in a 2D picture. Laguna received a bachelor's of mechatronics engineering from the Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico. He got a master’s degree in Computer Science from the Centro de Investigacion en Matematicas (CIMAT), Mexico, and he received a PhD in Mechanical engineering from the Iowa State University before coming to the University of Iowa.
