A longtime University of Iowa professor who is native of South Korea is being honored for his "outstanding contribution" as part of the United States-Korea Conference: Sustainable Development & The Future in December. 

Suresh, M.L. Raghavan, a University of Iowa Technology Institute (ITI), faculty affiliate is among 21 faculty and staff members being honored with the University of Iowa’s 2020 Faculty and Staff Awards.

In November 2020, Stephen Baek, assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering, and H.S. Udaykumar, a professor of mechanical engineering and interim associate dean for research and graduate programs, both at the University of Iowa, received the 2020 Defense Innovation Award from TechConnect. Udaykumar and Baek received the award for their presentation “MaterIQ: An AI-based software tool for materials-by-design” at the Defense TechConnect Summit.

Access to lab space and equipment, freedom to research diverse topics, and faculty mentorship gave former University of Iowa student scientists from the Ratner Research Group a leg up as they’ve taken opportunities across the country.
