University of Iowa's Operator Performance Lab (OPL) hosted the Air Force ROTC Detachment 255 (Det 255) award ceremony and the installment of a new cadet group commander. OPL and Det 255 have a collaborative relationship.

Patrick Selmer, programmer/analyst at Science Systems and Applications, Inc, was the featured speaker of the University of Iowa Climate / Atmospheric Science & Engineering (CASE) Colloquium series on Dec. 5, 2022. A new state report has recognized the contributions of the University of Iowa’s Operator Performance Laboratory (OPL) to Iowa’s aviation industry.

Shaoping Xiao, a University of Iowa mechanical engineering associate professor, is developing an artificial intelligence-powered model to optimize how water reservoirs are used to regulate streamflow during flooding.

Ping Jing, a professor at the School of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago, was the featured speaker of the Climate / Atmospheric Science & Engineering (CASE) Colloquium series on Nov. 11, 2022. The presentation was titled "Community Air Research Experience: Engaging Undergraduate Students in Research on Air Pollution in Chicago Communities."

The University of Iowa Center for Advancement is honoring seven members of the armed forces who have demonstrated exceptional service to their communities and nation with the awards. Maj. Gen. Stewart Wallace, the military advisor to the Iowa Technology Institute, is among those who will receive the Hawkeye Distinguished Veterans Award on Nov. 10, 2022.
