The University of Iowa Technology Institute (ITI) hosted a research open house to celebrate the excellence and diversity of research being conducted by faculty, staff, and students.

Several labs presented information or demonstrations of their research.

Here are just a few examples: 

Bernice Kubicek, a PhD candidate in electrical and computer engineering and research assistant under the mentorship of Ananya Sen Gupta, highlighted the novel algorithms she is developing to categorize underwater objects as threats or benign.  

Daniel Keefe, a PhD candidate in electrical and computer engineering and research assistant under the mentorship of Fatima Toor, shared his work on developing a sensor to detect COVID-19 based on fluid samples, such as from a person's mouth or nose. 

Huanxin (Jessie) Zhang, a post-doctoral researcher, and Zeyuan Ru, a graduate research assistant, in the Atmospheric and Environmental Research Lab, under the direction of Jun Wang, discussed the "smart" sensors they use to gather data about soil moisture, soil temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, and air temperature to help farmers more efficiently irrigate cropland.
