Suresh M.L. Raghavan, a professor of biomedical engineering in the College of Engineering, has received a 2020 President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence. The award, administered by the UI Council on Teaching, was created in 2004.

A UI news release credits "his highly effective teaching style and his emphasis on deeper understanding of concepts," providing research opportunities and mentorship to students and medical fellows in his research lab, and working "diligently to establish and maintain industry relationships that continue to provide students with development opportunities."

BioMOST, or Biomechanics of Soft Tissues Lab, contributes to the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the soft tissue structures in the human body by drawing upon principles of engineering mechanics.
