Stephen Baek, PhD

Steve Baek is assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering and a cluster faculty member in the Public Digital Arts Cluster. He holds secondary appointments in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Radiation Oncology. His current and past research spans a variety of interdisciplinary subjects, including statistical human body shape analysis and modeling, vision-based human motion tracking and analysis, driver state monitoring in automated/autonomous vehicles, data-driven physics simulation, and medical image analysis.

During his studies, he received the National Science and Engineering Scholarship and the Global PhD Fellowship from the Korean Ministry of Education. During postdoctoral training at Seoul National University, he was also awarded the Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship by the President of the Republic of Korea. Professor Baek spent roughly two years as a senior researcher before moving to the United States in 2015.
