The University of Iowa Technology Institute is made up of 25 labs and centers led by faculty in the role of principal investigator. Numerous researchers, staff, and students round out our teams.

During our history, ITI's research program has substantially advanced computational modeling, simulation, visualization, and optimization technologies as applied to medical and health fields; human performance and cognition; manufacturing; public safety; advanced smart materials, climatology; energy production; and military preparedness, combat training, field operations, threat interdiction, and combat casualty support and treatment.

ITI's research supports seven mission areas: Aerospace Technology, Environment and Energy, Biotechnology, Systems and Sensors, Human Modeling and Simulation, Advanced Manufacturing and Materials, and Vehicle Safety and Automated Driving.
