Biography

Sharif Rahman is a professor in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematical and Computational Sciences and a researcher at the Iowa Technology Institute. His present research interests include multiscale mechanics of heterogeneous media, mathematical models of random microstructure, and uncertainty quantification of high-dimensional complex systems.

Professor Rahman received a BSc in civil engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology. He later received an MS in structural engineering from Purdue University and a PhD in structural engineering from Cornell University. Professor Rahman is an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, International Association of Structural Safety and Reliability, U.S. Association for Computational Mechanics, and International Society for Computational Engineering & Sciences.
